August is our month of Living With Purpose!
Have you ever wondered if you’re actually gifted by God? Maybe you’ve looked around and thought, “Everyone else seems to have a calling… but what about me?”
This week on Biblical Wisdom for Flourishing, we begin our August theme “Living with Purpose” by exploring one of the most important questions of all:
How do I discover the talents God has given me?
The truth is, you are more gifted than you realize. According to 1 Peter 4:10, each of us has received a gift (i.e., a divine grace, a sacred deposit) meant not just for our own success, but to serve others and glorify God.
And it’s not just Scripture that tells us this. Psychologists like Howard Gardner have long recognized that every person has unique strengths; whether from creativity to compassion, from practical skills to relational wisdom. He calls it multiple intelligences. These are not random traits. They’re evidence of God’s intentional design.
In this week’s episode, we explore:
How biblical figures like Bezalel used their ordinary skills for extraordinary purposes
Why naming your gifts is part of your spiritual formation
What flourishing looks like when you steward your strengths instead of comparing them.
I also share a simple framework to help you move from discovery to dedication, which starts by first identifying your talents to using them faithfully in the world.
discern > develop > dedicate > deploy.
Flourishing is never an accident thing. It is, sometimes, cultivated when giftedness and purpose meet in service. That is how you become who God already created you to be.
